My Journey
In 2015, at 18, my mom dropped me off at my first Led Primary class. Despite regularly attending heated vinyasa classes for a year, like most people's first Led class, I was surprised, inspired, and extremely humbled. There weren't any Ashtanga teachers near my hometown, so I quickly became a hot yoga fanatic and completed my 200-Hour RYT with Petra Lehman-Brauer at Create Power Yoga as a college student in 2016. Upon graduating, I made my mark as a strong Power Yoga teacher while still exploring creative sequencing and remaining curious about Ashtanga yoga. I became part of a Mysore program in my later college years, but the method still hadn’t quite stuck for me.
I continued my yoga education through several Hands-On Assisting Trainings and have found great reward in helping those who wish to receive guidance through physical touch. In addition, I completed my 300-Hour RYT with Down Under School of Yoga, with Natasha Rizopoulos as my lead trainer, in December 2020. During this training, I worked to define my voice as a teacher and dive deeper into anatomy, breath, sequencing, and yoga theory.
Before I am a teacher, I am always a student, and I believe there is always room to grow and learn. In September 2021, I began an Ashtanga practice with Randy Aromando. Although I had fallen in and out of Ashtanga yoga previously, it was Randy who taught me true dedication to the method. This practice has taken me deeper into my yoga studies and continues to inspire my teaching.
In the spring of 2025, I completed another 300-Hour RYT Training at Yoga East with Kimberly Dahlmann. Studying with Kimberly has been one of the greatest joys on my journey and is something I hope to continue for as long as possible. Her extensive knowledge and gentle delivery of the Ashtanga method have been a true inspiration. Under her watchful eye I feel like I have flourished as a practitioner. The current owner of Yoga East, Chris Rubin, has also been a generous mentor. She has welcomed me into her community and given me the opportunity to teach both Mysore and Led classes at her studio helping me every step of the way.
It is my goal to share what I have learned and experienced in my body with others—whether it’s asana, meditation, pranayama, or chanting. This practice has changed my life, and I am deeply grateful to be able to share it with others.
In class, I don’t take myself too seriously—you can expect laughter and endless opportunities for questions. I am passionate about alignment and will work to help you find it in a way that’s unique to your body and lifestyle. Coming to class means joining a community, and I can’t wait to welcome you into it.
With love,
Katherine
